Grown on the lower slopes of the ancient volcano, Mt Vulture, in Basilicata, where the volcanic soil is key to great Aglianico. It's minerally, with typically generous tannin and bitterness, flavors of everything black--cherries, olives, tea, and tar--plus a dried hay note. Stainless only, no oak. Serve it with meaty tomato sauces.
